Pradaxa is used to prevent stroke in patients with a heart condition called nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. It works by preventing blood clots, but this anticlotting action can also cause dangerous side effects, including excessive bleeding form trauma and spontaneous internal bleeding.

FDA Questions Pradaxa Safety
